The Spanish Flu Pandemic, 1918-1919

Responsible for the deaths of an estimated 25 million to 50 million people, Spanish Flu is considered to be among the worst pandemic in recorded history. It was caused by the H1N1 type of influenza virus. H1N1 is similar to the bird flu types known to us today (H5N1 and H5N2).
